Ruler Addedomaros · c. 45–25 BC (coins); some writers extend his rule to about 10 BC
Known only from coins; perhaps first named North Thames ruler
Addedomaros is known only from his coins: no Roman writer names him. He may have been the first ruler north of the Thames to put his name on coins. In John Sills 's order his gold staters run from the Shell types, of which this Floral Spiral is one, through the Crescent Cross to the large Spiral issue. His coins are found mostly in Essex, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, so he may have ruled the Trinovantes , the Catuvellauni , or both. Evans, who first read his name on coins in 1856, compared the ending -MAROS with Gaulish names such as Indutiomarus.7 ,5 ,4
